Hello New Blog!
Well I can't say I'm new to blogging, but it's certainly been a while. Some days I have so much to say about life and music and other days nothing at all because it's just plain confusing. Maybe this will give a glimpse into my busy little mind for those that enjoy my music or are supporting me on this journey. I think the best place to start is just music in general. Obviously country is where my heart is -- and it's been proven anything I sing comes out country, even blink 182 -- but I do listen to everything. You can look at my music library and find a bit of this, a bit of that. Most people are surprised at the variety, but music is music and I love it all. Music is a universal language. It can pick you up and bring you down. It even ruins my mood when I feel like listening to something specific, but can't place what the specific genre or artist is. Anyone else have those days? It is something that can only come from your heart. It exposes our true feelings when we write it and strips us bare when we sing it. It is the single most powerful thing in the world. There's a song for everything; every emotion, every situation -- and if there isn't one, you can write one. Many nights I sit down to learn a new song and end up writing one instead because I'm so full of emotion. Honestly, I'm an emotional wreck. While I've always used writing as a form of self therapy, only recently have I really understand that not everyone can write with such emotion and I've started to embrace that this is the person I am. Music has been a big part of my life and will be forever. I've lost my voice multiple times; from back to back concerts, to singing too much in the car. I am happy to have a voice and have people around me that encourage me to use it. It can only go up from here!
